    Welcome to Craftygeek

Craftygeek is a place for all things creative. In time you will see blog posts and articles covering a wide range of subjects including:

Photography, Workshop fittings & jigs, Web Coding, CNC Machining, Food & Cooking , Growing vegetables and whatever else I choose to write about along the way.

Projects currently on the go & in planning:

    • Loud speakers - one of my boyhood dreams...a rather tasty set of speakers built from a kit (they have been modified a little from the plan) - Now finished & in use!...See the first write up here.
    • Ukulele - currently sitting in the workshop half built, a Flying V Concert size Ukulele.
    • CNC router - I have all the electrical parts already, plans & the know how - I still need to get the materials to construct the actual machine itself, this will be a long build I think...I hope to start this build in the Autumn.
    • Various workshop jigs and fixtures - these are built on a per project basis, expect to see quite a few of these cropping up.

    Lighting modifiers, an introduction

    DIY Strobe lighting modifiers

If you do any googling around the interweb reading about photography, you're likely to see talk or mention of lighting modifiers. The next logical step from seeing a mention on a piece of must have equipment is to trawl a couple of online photography shops to look at prices, or to scan through ebay - your next reaction is normally one of shock horror as the prices are more than you would perhaps expect....but does it really need to be this expensive?...I don't think so - enter the DIY photography lighting modifiers.
